The Mobile Sea Base Hercules moored in the northern Persian Gulf June 1988.  Hercules was the LANTFLT MSB. The floating island was home to a Pakistani crew, a variety of EXPAT personnel, a SEAL detachment, a Marine detachment (Stinger armed), U.S. Army Seabat special operations helicopters, and four Mark III patrol boats.

The Mobile Sea Base Wimbrown VII moored in the northern Persian Gulf June 1988.  Wimbrown VII was the PACFLT MSB, smaller and more crowded, but outfitted like the Hercules.
